The North Carolina Department of Transportation is actively advancing the intersection realignment project in Watauga County, with contractor Tri-County Paving LLC progressing toward completing the next phase this week. This project is set to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for all residents and visitors navigating this vital corridor. Additionally, a scheduled lane closure on NC 105 on Thursday, October 30, from 7 PM through early Friday morning, will allow for culvert replacement, further fortifying the county’s infrastructure for years to come.

Watauga High School Celebrates Athletic Excellence
Watauga County’s educational spirit shines brightly with the women’s cross country team claiming the 6A state championship on November 1, 2025. In tandem, the Watauga Pioneers football team capped an undefeated regular season on October 31 with a decisive 28-18 conference victory, marking their third consecutive flawless season.
